We have all looked at our world and seen room for improvement. We’ve all seen areas where change is needed, such as how we treat people groups, the community, care for the planet, and how business is conducted. When you find yourself ready to stop merely noticing things, but become willing to make the change you want to see, then we’re starting to talk about social impact - and to start anything - time is the best thing any business can give ...
Social impact is the intentional, positive changes people make to create a better community and environment for everyone - all living things included. Social impact is essential. It’s important for us to participate in social impact, but defining it and giving it structure is also important. Then this revolution of conscious social impact we’re currently experiencing can grow. Never before have so many people, companies, and organisations been so aware of the impact they’re making - but never before have so many more people, companies, and organisations needed to change their practices and become even more socially conscious. Even small companies can make a difference - and web-aviso have started with their community ...
When we relocated our home and business from Colchester in East Anglia to Formby in the North West in August 2021 our primary aim was to connect with, and become active within, the community socially. It was specifically the church and parishioners that we sought to be our enabler - and they did not disappoint. You simply need to experience Liverpoool area hospitality! Fortunately we have business skills that can be of benefit too, so it was a minor leap from social participation to including web-aviso services to compliment our efforts too.
web-aviso, the Formby community and development of Formby Events ...
As we became more familiar with the Parish community it became apparent that there were many initiatives and groups that we could get involved with, and help make a positive impact within our Formby Parish - but you need to look before you leap. The closest thing to us was the Church, and as with many areas of the UK, Formby locally as well as the wider Archdiocese of Liverpool was undergoing some quite saddening changes - so by September 2022, our first foray into helping the Formby Parish was (with my wife and I) to put ourselves forward and organise the first traditional Christmas Fayre for the community in 18 years, using St Jerome's Hall as the venue ! We had a mix of the traditional games and stalls, plus some local artisan's renting tables. .... Yes fortunatley it was a sucess ! As part of this we collated local information, then designed and had a physically printed Parish Directory too, listing parish groups and community events (this being to complement simply having a Christmas Fayre flyer printed, and as something that could be kept by all parishioners and renewed annually). We designed fliers and outside banners too. We now run this annually - the date is set for the last saturday in November just before the first weekend of Advent !
It would be remiss not to include the historical event of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III in May 2023. Again we put ourselves forward for, not one - but three consecutive days of different events, each more inclusive for different sections of the community. So it seemed an opportune moment to create the Formby Events website not only to keep those involved with helping, but the parishioners and the wider Formby community holistically updated ... a website that could complement what our Parish already had online - but I had greater technology and resource at my disposal to keep updated ...
Undeterred by scale of event - we made the 2023 parish Christmas Fayre bigger and better to include an artisan craft and makers market too. This was held across the Gild Hall and Gild Hall Activity Centres. We also designed and had printed 3 cards based on arts and crafts installations in Our Lady's Church, plus a 2024 weekly-view diary which incorporated the parish directory.
The past now remains history ... and the future a mystery - until we tell you more, but let's just say other plans are afoot ...
