Community and Social Value : Making a Difference in Formby

Community is the heart of social value. When you're ready to create positive change in your community, you're stepping into the realm of social impact. Time is the most valuable asset a business can invest in this journey. Social value and impact are about intentionally making positive changes to create a better community and environment for everyone. It's essential for us to participate in social impact, but defining it and structuring it is crucial for the growth of this conscious revolution.

Never before have so many people, companies, and organizations been aware of their impact, yet so many still need to change their practices and become more socially conscious. Even small companies can make a significant difference. This is where web-aviso has started in Formby.

web-aviso is committed to social value and community development in Formby. When we relocated here in 2021, we quickly became involved in the local community and sought to contribute our skills and resources. By offering web-aviso marketing and design services, we aim to support local businesses and organisations, strengthen the community, and create a positive impact.

As we became more integrated into the Formby Parish community, it became clear that there were numerous initiatives and groups we could join to make a positive impact. However, it was crucial to research and understand the local landscape before diving in.

The Church was our natural starting point, and like many areas in the UK, Formby and the wider Archdiocese of Liverpool were experiencing some challenging changes, not helped by th earlier Pandemic, so In September 2022, we volunteered to start organising a traditional Christmas Fayre (the first in 18 years!). To enhance this event's impact, we created a Parish Directory listing local groups and community events. Subsequently the Formby Events website was established to help promote this event and support other community events around Formby. This platform serves as a central hub for community events, charity events, cultural events, and more.

Other Events

Since the Christmas Fayre has become an annual event too, being held on the last Saturday of November; the start of Advent. In 2023, we expanded our Christmas Fayre to include an artisan craft market and held the event across two venues. We also designed and printed Christmas cards and a 2024 diary featuring local art and community information.

We also played a significant role in the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III in 2023, organizing three inclusive events over three days. In 2024 we also held the first May Day Family Fun Day in the Village .... and with other ideas abound, check back for more details on this page!
